2024
On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse, known as the "Great North American Eclipse," will trace a narrow path of totality across 13 U.S. states, with Wimberly, Texas – home of Dillon Forte’s studio – directly in its celestial path. To celebrate the path of totality taking place in Wimberly, a small town just outside Austin known as the "Gem of the Hill Country," Dillon is hosting an event to witness the solar eclipse. He will also be giving one lucky person a tattoo inside a newly constructed pyramid on “Tattoo Ranch” just as the Moon obscures the Sun.
Dillon has commemorated the solar eclipse with 444 digital designs exclusively available on cocreate.ink. The designs will be released next week with some very special perks. The solar eclipse, a spectacle that has captivated humanity for millennia, occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, casting its shadow on the Earth's surface. Of particular fascination is the path of totality, a narrow band where the Moon completely covers the Sun, plunging the surrounding area into darkness for a brief but awe-inspiring moment.
The path of totality traces a route across the Earth's surface during a solar eclipse, offering a unique opportunity for observers to witness the breathtaking phenomenon of totality. This narrow corridor, typically only a few dozen miles wide, represents the optimal vantage point to experience the eclipse. Within this path, the Sun's brilliant corona becomes visible, creating a halo of ethereal light around the silhouette of the Moon.
A solar eclipse occurs approximately every 18 months. However, a specific location on Earth will only experience the path of totality roughly once every few hundred years. It is only fitting that this celestial event is aligned with the grand opening of a newly constructed pyramid on Dillon’s ranch in Wimberly, Texas. A pyramid where people can stay while they experience all that it means to receive a tattoo from Dillon Forte.
The path of totality during a solar eclipse, with its precise alignment of the Earth, Moon, and Sun, can be seen as a manifestation of sacred geometry in action. It demonstrates the harmony and order inherent in the cosmos, reflecting the idea that geometric principles govern the movements of celestial bodies.
For some, the path of totality may represent a moment of profound connection to the divine or cosmic forces, as it highlights the intricate interplay between geometric patterns and celestial events.
Dillon, whose work is dedicated to the sacred geometric nature of existence, searches for greater awareness in the true meaning of life through geometry. His work embodies patterns, shapes, and proportions of symbolic and spiritual significance that represent fundamental aspects of the universe.
“From the microcosm to the macrocosm, there are mathematical relationships that underlie the fundamental structure of our universe. The purpose of this work is to illuminate these mysteries." -Dillon Forte
Dillon's designs and work convey deeper meanings well beyond their physical appearance. In fact, the placement of his ranch, studio, and pyramid are all part of a meticulous equation. The specific latitude and longitude of “Tattoo Ranch” match up with the latitude of the pyramids of Giza and the longitude of the pyramids of Teotihuacan.
Getting a tattoo from Dillon is not simply rendering ink on skin. It is a journey to a ranch with an intentional location. It is a stay in a pyramid. It is an experience and journey into a world of sacred geometry.
