About Carlotta
French artist based in San Francisco, I graduated from fashion and design school at the age of 19. That gave me a unique approach of the body. It is 10 years later that I first touched a tattoo needle and immediately fell in love with this practice. As a black worker I like to develop female silhouettes and naturalists botanical pieces, contrasting thin etching lines with bold elements. I adapt these themes to other mediums, such as clay and paint, in a more vibrant palette. Before establishing in SF, CA my needles travelled all over Europe.

FAQ
- What does include a one day session?
- A one day session usually starts at 11am and includes 30min of design talk, 1 to 2hours of placement or freehand and 4hours of tattooing (more or less depending on the person’s resistance) I like to have 30min break after 2hours of tattooing and some small breaks for hydratation.
- How to prepare for the session?
- Please hydrate your skin EVERYDAY previous to the session :) it will really help the process. Drink a lot of water and no alcohol/drugs the day before. Do not shave before this is part of my job. Eat before your appointment and bring snacks and water. (Candies can help a lot)
- What is your design process?
- For botanical pieces, if they are precise flowers/plants or animals wanted, I like to ask a Pinterest board with real photos (no tatts/illustrations) to design the piece as close as your vision is. Then I like to share my vision and talk about it the day of the appointment. I don’t do calls nor consultations except for big pieces: back or full leg. For sleeves I do show a few different compositions when we meet. If you want a freehand project I need you to be 100% trusting the process and share your thoughts when I am done with the first sketch. Of course I ask you to be transparent an honest: do not accept my design if you don’t like it, it is okay to say no, in this case I only keep the deposit. For figure silhouettes I want you to share the one you prefer from my instagram and to mention details that you would like (what hair, expression, pose,…).
- What about cover up?
- I do accept cover up and blast over only if I see I can do something harmonious and that it serves the new tattoo/compositions.
- What do you recommend for aftercare ?
- I usually wrap the piece and don’t use second skin as I had a few people reacting to it. I recommend to take the plastic wrap off before bedtime and rince it with ph neutral soap (dr browner), dry with paper towels tapping (no rubbing) and wear large clothes with natural fibers. I recommend to use the lotion: cicaplast GEL (not the balm!) from La Roche Posay, 2/3 days after the session until healed and maximum twice a day. No soaking in the water for too long, no bath, no swimming pools, no sauna, no steam room for one months and no sport for 15days.
