About Azize

Hi! I'm Azize, a self-taught tattooist that specializes in black/red dot work, pattern work, abstract, ornamental, contemporary, & culturally informed designs. I draw inspiration from the natural world, textiles, architecture, and graphic design. Developing this practice has been both an incredible challenge and life changing decision for me. Read my F.A.Q to learn more about why I love tattooing ;-) Tattooing opens wounds both physical and psychic, and I hold my responsibility as facilitator/healer/artist with reverence. Collaboration, intimacy, and experimentation are key tenants of my practice. Tattooing is that deep! My goal is to create an environment where you feel empowered to express and advocate for yourself. Humans age 18+ of all body types, skin tones, genders, orientations, and experience levels of getting tattooed are welcome. I offer cover-ups/reworks for scars and other tattoos on a case-by-case basis. If this approach resonates with you - let’s chat!

Policies

Deposit Policy
Deposits are $113, nonrefundable, and applied to the final cost of the tattoo.
Cover-Up Policy
Accepting cover-ups.
Rescheduling Policy
Deposits may be applied to one reschedule with 72+ hours in advance AND the appointment is rescheduled within 7 days. A second reschedule in a row will forfeit the previous deposit and require a new deposit to book. Outright cancellations will result in a forfeited deposit.
Touch-Up Policy
Touch ups of my work are free within the first two years. There are many variables that effect how a tattoo heals, especially large color packed areas, hands, feet, face, or thicker/more calloused areas. No two bodies react to, or heal from, tattoos the same. After two years, touch-ups are priced based on the scale and complexity of the touch up. I may be open to "refreshing" another artist's work, submit an inquiry to discuss further.
Integrity Policy
I will not tattoo any words, phrases, or imagery from a language or culture that you don't speak or that don't belong to you. I will not tattoo other artist's designs unless if you have proof of explicit written consent from the artist(s).
Relational Policy
My goal is to create an environment that welcomes and inspires creativity through an anti-racist, collaborative, and constructive lens. I prioritize the health, safety, and liberation of our community over perfectionism and individualism. Harassment, discrimination, and bigotry of any kind is not welcome at sessions with me, yet I understand that harm is inevitable and can be unpredictable in various spaces. I will adhere to Client Agreements (below), and ask that all clients understand the antidotes to, and work against, the characteristics of white supremacy culture.
Client Agreements

FAQ

How can I book with you?
Newsletter subscribers always receive the opportunity to claim flash first, then remaining flash lives in the booking section here on my website. I offer half day appointments for remaining flash on a rolling basis through CO:CREATE. You’ll be able to book directly into my calendar through Square whenever you’re available. Custom inquiries open only via newsletter every 3 months. I accept limited custom appointments when I have availability and our ideas align. If I accept your proposal, you’ll book directly into my calendar as you would while booking flash. I typically book all appointments 3-4 months out. If you're traveling or have other time related circumstances please note it in your booking form or send me an email. I’ll accommodate if I’m able, the more notice the better!
What's your rate and how can I pay?
I divide appointments into 3 categories*: Full Day (6-8 hours total, 3+ hours of tattooing) = $1,200 Half Day (3-4 hours total, up to 3 hours of tattooing) = $300-800 Continuing (finishing ongoing projects) = $200/hr community (mutual aid) flash is separate from standard rates* Payment is due at the time of your appointment. I accept both card and cash, but please know I can’t make change. Tipping is is not required but always appreciated.
I want a tattoo by you, but I can’t afford it - what do I do?
I accept payment plans! Let me know while booking if you’re interested. Some options include financing through Klarna, Afterpay, or standard credit card payment options. You can also use these options for your final payment on the day of your appointment with a fee. I do offer a reduced sliding scale for Black and Indigenous clients, as well as clients who are sex workers. Don’t be shy, please inquire when booking!
Can I see my custom design before our appointment?
Custom designs will be made available 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. If you are familiar with my work and are open to the collaborative process in studio, rest assured we will create something we both enjoy. Worst case scenario - we postpone to another day. I do want to get on the same page with you so that we're both happy about the design, so if your design is especially large/complex, we will likely collaborate over a few drafts 1-2 weeks ahead of time.
Do you offer touch ups?
Yes! Touch ups are free within the first year. There are so many variables that effect how a tattoo heals, especially large color packed areas, hands, feet, face, or thicker/more calloused areas. No two bodies react to, or heal from, tattoos the same. I want you to feel happy with your tattoo(s).
How should I prepare?
NO alcohol, or blood thinning agents like aspirin, alcohol, turmeric, or NSAIDS for 24 hours before your appointment if you are able. If you are on prescription blood thinners or these things are an important regular part of your life and can't be avoided without disrupting you, please let me know. Please be transparent about your pain tolerance so that pain management tools can be discussed as needed. Exfoliating, hydrating, and moisturizing regularly for a few weeks up to your appointment helps prepare your skin for tattoos. This makes my job easier. Try to do this on the day of your appointment at least. Generally, I will shave the area to be tattooed, so don’t fret about shaving and please keep your skin clear of makeup or other products on the day of your appointment. Getting a good night's sleep, having a full meal, and wearing clean, loose clothing before your appointment is integral for your body’s ability to handle the trauma of a tattoo. Bring whatever would make you feel comfortable. Small things like being dehydrated or over stressed can greatly affect the skin's ability to accept ink; it is important to arrive grounded, rested & well taken care of for the quality of your piece & ease of my process. Please take your time taking care of you and be in touch with me if you're running behind!
When are you coming to my city?
Sign up to the mailing list on my website to stay in touch with tour dates. Otherwise, email me at hiii@transquility.xyz and tell me where I should go next ;)
I need to cancel/reschedule!
I understand! Things happen. However, if you cancel within 72 hours, reschedule more than once, show up over 30 minutes late, or no-show, your deposit will be forfeited and a new deposit will be required to book. Please cancel with as much notice as possible if you’re feeling sick with any communicable illness or have had an exposure. Illness increases the risk of infection and poor healing with your new tattoo since the immune system is already burdened.
Do you offer cover ups or work on scars?
Yes; I do cover ups on a case-by-case basis and I can tattoo over scars that have been healed for at least two years. I’m still building skill and experience in this realm, but it’s something I’m happy to do if you’re comfortable with that.
Why do you tattoo?
Tattooing is one of few things humans have been practicing for millenia. It's embedded in our spirit, it's a heavy craft, and it's a medium that regularly cracks my ego open. It’s something I do to invite intimacy, practice bodily autonomy, and facilitate expansion. Tattooing is an exercise in trust, communication, and nerve. This is blood magic - a significant effort to alter reality; tattooing teaches us how to expand our tolerance for pain in this world of suffering. It teaches us how far the mind and body can stretch and what it means to remember. At its best, tattooing is a fusion of all these things - pain, connection, relief, grounding, elevation.
