About Gossamer
Gossamer Rozen (they/she) is an LGBTQIA+ African-American & Filipino fine artist & tattooer based in New York City. They are self-taught in tattooing and specialize in creating tattoos by hand (handpoked). Gossamer is also founder of Tigerbob, a character brand, fashion & fine art project dedicated to producing objects with intention. Tigerbob's existence is active resistance against the systemic issues that have created an unfair, unsustainable creative economy by empowering the artist to retain full creative control of the brand and its products and services. The artist has received recognition from Phaidon & the New Museum, and is a past collaborator with The Boston Globe, Patagonia, Squarespace, & Dr Martens. - All deposits and pre-paid tattoos are non-refundable. Rescheduling your appointment, especially on short notice, may result in losing your deposit or pre-payment.
- Cover-Up Policy
- Accepting cover-ups.
- Rescheduling Policy
- 1 reschedule is allowed and must be requested in writing at least 48 hours from the date and time of your appointment. Failure to request a reschedule during this time frame forfeits your payment. A second reschedule request after successfully rescheduling the first appointment will forfeit your payment.
- Touch-Up Policy
- One touch up is available after a minimum of six months healing.
- Requirements
- A government issued photo ID is REQUIRED in the state of New York as proof that you are over 18 years of age. If you do not have your photo ID, you cannot be tattooed, and we will have to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
- Rates
- Prices are based on my hourly rate of $300. Small tattoos taking less than 40min are flat rate $200. Full day rate is 3 hours maximum at $900. Tattoos that will take longer than 3 hours will be broken up into multiple sessions.
- Tattoo Preparation
- The night prior your appointment, please avoid heavy drinking/drug use, and please try to eat well and get plenty of rest. A tattoo is a medical procedure and the tattooing procedure AND healing process causes stress to your body. Please leave your appointment day free of other activities. I am unable to complete tattoos in exact time frames. Wear comfortable, clean clothes (preferably dark colors) to your appointment. Be sure to wear something that you're not worried might get ink or otherwise stained on. You will be sitting or laying down for long periods of time in sometimes awkward positions. Many food options are available at the Industry City complex. Be sure to check area maps so you can arrive to your appointment in a timely manner.
- Availability
- Please list your requested dates with your purchase based on the location: - Estuary Tattoo: I schedule appointments Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday starting at 2pm.
- Aftercare Suggestions
- You know your body best! Please consider these helpful guidelines. (1) Take off your bandage after 24-48 hours. - If your bandage peels off too early, and part of the tattoo is exposed, take the entire bandage off. (2) Once ready, use clean hands to gently lift or peel back the bandage. - You can do this while in the shower or under lukewarm water. - Check this guide on proper medical adhesive removal: https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/1079841O/medical-adhesive-related-skin-injuries-marsi.pdf (3) Wash your tattoo gently with soap and water. Allow to air dry. (4) While the tattoo is healing, please keep your tattoo clean and free of restrictive clothing or sun exposure. - You can use a gentle lotion if your tattoo becomes itchy. - Please do not pick at your tattoo or over-moisturize it. (5) Do not use sunscreen for at least 1-2 weeks. Keep your tattoo out of sunlight as much as possible. (6) Do not swim, soak, or expose your tattoo to unclean water for 4 weeks.
- Healing Estimates
- - 1-2 Weeks: Your tattoo will begin to scab and flake off. - 4-8 Weeks: The outer layer of your epidermis (skin) will be healed. - 6-12 Months: Your outer layer and inner layer (epidermis and dermis) will be fully healed and ink will be settled.
