About Dawn
Dawn Radford is a tattoo artist and illustrator based in Brookfield, IL, currently accepting new clients. Her style centers on illustrative realism, shaped by a background in scientific illustration and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Her work draws from a curiosity for science and a love of organic forms, creating pieces that feel both studied and expressive. Dawn earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2017, with a focus in Painting and Scientific Illustration. Before pursuing art full-time, she served five years in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman, providing humanitarian aid across several countries. After completing her service in 2012, she earned her Emergency Medical Licensure at the College of DuPage and began her tattoo apprenticeship in Virginia Beach, VA. Since then, she has worked in several tattoo studios throughout the Chicagoland area, building a body of work that reflects both technical precision and thoughtful storytelling.
